You Can't Win
Interactive Installation | Mixed Media, Mirror, Acrylic, Wood, Found Objects

You Can't Win is a humorously reimagined Plinko-style game exploring the unique challenges women with ADHD face in corporate environments. Participants quickly discover that the game has no winning outcomes—only losing results labeled in hand-written talk bubbles featuring actual remarks made to the artist, Martha Valenta, in workplace settings.

Before playing, participants confront their own reflection in a mirrored top panel, literally about to "watch themselves lose." Rather than engaging with the impossible game, visitors are encouraged to keep their playing piece—an "energy coin"—symbolizing a conscious choice to reclaim and preserve their personal energy. Through playful interactivity, relatable humor, and thoughtful design, You Can't Win critiques corporate workplace norms while celebrating radical self-acceptance.
